My Licence Diploma
I've finally managed to pick up my licence diploma from the Academy of Economic Studies yesterday. You can see it on the awards page of the site.
It doesn't really look like much to behold, it's just a piece of already yellowed-out paper, but if you think about it, it says quite a bit about the choices someone has made. After all, you only get one of these if you spend 4 years going through courses, seminars and exams in a university in the "little" city of Bucharest, somewhere between the Carpathians and the Danube (on the map of Europe), doing your best to face the freezing winds of winter and the unbearable heat of summer, making your way through the ever-locked-down traffic just so that (at least from time to time) you will attend some classes.

Babe Magnet
I went to the park around 7 pm. I sat down on a bench and played guitar for an hour or so. Here's what I got out of it (attached picture).

Ancuta's New Website
As many people probably expected Ancuta now has a website. It was high time she did, as it's just not right to keep the webdesigner's girl offline for so long.
May she be inspired to fill it with interesting things to delight us with.
So, Ancuta, may your server downtime be short, your unique visitors be many and your AdSense returns plentiful and frequent.
The website address is: www.ancuta.literati.ro

BenQ - Unsatisfactory*
Alright! No more Mr. Nice Guy. So Windows Vista isn't the extraordinary piece of software everybody was dreaming of, so what?!?!
Tonight I'm really discontent (English: pissed off) with those hardware manufacturers who although still in business fail to offer any Vista drivers for their products. I'm especially "discontent" with those who don't offer Vista drivers for their top-of-the-line merchandise.
Practical example I don't know what possessed me, but a while ago I bought a BenQ scanner, the best I could find: BenQ 7650T. I didn't need it until tonight when I finally decided to install it. Guess what? - No Vista drivers.
Let me quote the BenQ support website: "No driver is available. This product has no driver support for that particular operating system. There are no plans to develop a driver in the future." F@#$ !#$@!!$#!!
I don't want to say anything else because this is already bad for my blood pressure.
* English for Unsatisfactory is "SUCKS!!!"
PS: I'd really love to have somebody from BenQ contradict me on this one.

The Night of the Ad Eaters
We went to the "Nuit des Publivores" last night. We lasted until about 2:45 am, then we decided to go home because we were tired and I still had a lot of work to do before morning.
The first 2 segments were really cool, the third left a bit to be desired.
The campaigns I liked most were those of Centraal Beheer (insurance company) and a Romanian WWF campaign.
Here's one of the Centraal Beheer ads:
I've gathered a few highlights on this page.

Think Basic
For the past 2 weeks I have been struggling to solve what apparently was an incompatibility problem between Windows Vista and a KVM Extender. I eventually concluded that the keyboard had to be replaced with something more compatible... which I did.
Only after buying the new keyboard, installing it and testing it did I think to check the cables hooked up to the Vista machine. Surprise, or should I say... no surprise at all. It wasn't working because it wasn't connected.
Well, at least I have a nice, simple, new keyboard now.
Let this be a lesson to everyone...

Master of Surrealism
I just have to quote my beloved girlfriend on this. During a phone conversation we were having earlier today, after I told her my schedule for the following days, she said that "much like Dali I am a master of surrealism. He was a master of surrealist paintings I am a master of surrealist plans".
What is so impossible about waking up at 11 and wanting to fit 9 meetings in a single day?

The Long Arm of the Law
I got pulled over by the cops today.
For... for ... for ... who can guess??? .... not having my headlights turned on in broad daylight.
The annoying thing is that it was probably the 1st time in a week when I didn't turn them on.
Luckily I got away with nothing more than a wise word of fatherly advice from the nice police officer-man.

Red Bull in the Night
Sunday night I woke up around 3 am, I looked up at the clock on the wall and I thought to myself: "I'm pretty well rested. I think I'll have a Red Bull and I'll get back to work to finish that analysis I've been putting off for a week". Easily put in practice, 1 minute later I finished the Red Bull and I thought to myself: "I'll just lie down for a minute and let it work its magic".
As you can probably guess I fell back to sleep (although sleep is a big word) and slept with my eyes half open, listening to every noise, until about 7 am when my mother carefully walked into my room to get something and I rapidly got out of bed and said "GOOD MORNING!!!"
Take it from somebody who now knows: Don't drink Red Bull and go back to sleep!
LATER EDIT: To set things straight, I frequently use energy drinks, usually Red Bull, to extend my working schedule. After writing this post I found a very interesting entry about Red Bull in the Wikipedia.
