We put together a pretty interesting experiment tonight.
There we were around 9:30 pm trying to fix Costi's computer when we found ourselves in a rare though very likely situation. Having to move the CPU between the old messed up board and the new, bright and shiny motherboard we found it was stuck to the radiator due to the solidified thermal paste. After a few trials the CPU was free of the radiator but we found ourselves in need of some thermal paste. We couldn't well go on without it and there was none to be found in the house. Imagine that!
It was by now 10:00 pm. Where to find thermal paste after 10:00 pm? We went to Metro Militari in search of a complete cooler, but sadly we found out they "don't do components". Stumbling into some friends who were looking for broomsticks (imagine the relief: we weren't the only strange people shopping for strange things at night) they told us Flamingo should be open 24/7 and they're bound to have something. True enough, some Flamingo shops are open 24/7. Unfortunatelly they were fresh out of thermal paste or compatible coolers.
Conclusion of the experiment: if you do have a computer emergency in the middle of the night there actually are places where you might find what you need. It's just a matter of items being on stock. Gotta Love Romania!
