This weekend was an important religious holiday, the Rusalii. More information about that here (in Romanian).
It is customary for people to give away food on the Saturday of the Rusalii, this being something that my Mother and Grandmother usually took care of. This year it went a bit differently. My mother had to attend the regional dance competition inj Ploiesti with the kids from the Club so I was the one who did the actual giving away. I visited 8 houses in total and I have a feeling my neighbours were pretty glad to see me get involved with the tradition.
